Bespoke Furniture
We are renowned for our furniture’s impeccable quality and unsurpassed craftsmanship, as well as our propensity for sourcing and selecting the finest woods, often natively grown and always selected with painstaking care.
We are the last of a dying breed of furniture makers. Each component is attentively made by hand, constructed patiently and exquisitely finished.
Our furniture is designed and made in such a way, that it will not only take pride of place in your home, but also in that of your children’s after you.
Having your furniture made by us means not having to compromise. You choose the wood species, you choose the exact dimensions, the exact shapes and textures involved, and the number and placement of storage areas. Best of all, you'll have a one-off piece, totally original, totally unique, always superior.
Handmade Kitchens
Our kitchens are different. We don't use a showroom to display shiny gadgetry and the latest fleeting, fashionable trends. Each and every time we build fitted furniture, it's unique.
Our clients deserve the best. Unlike “exclusive” Irish Kitchen companies, we don’t cut corners and costs through the use of sub-standard materials and methods of construction. Standardisation and mass production are the enemy of quality and character.
We use solid wood doors as well as internals, dovetail drawers, exceptional ironmongery and hardware, everything handmade and hand painted.
The difference is vast. You'll have an exquisite, hand-crafted kitchen, immediately recognisable as superior, that will never go out of fashion, and more importantly, become part of the permanent fabric of the home that will be there for generations.
Architectural Joinery
Great joinery is not only about a beautiful door-set or an exquisitely designed component in a room. Great joinery transforms a room, has the power to give an entirely different mood, to inform the guest, and to comfort the occupant.
We understand joinery's timeless traits and intrinsic value.
We value tradition and longevity. We are therefore advocates and practitioners of traditional methods of joinery and understand its application inherently.
As members of the Irish Georgian society, we have a deep knowledge of Ireland's various architectural periods, and how wood was heavily valued over the centuries, and utilised differently throughout each period.
Being members of the IWIN (Irish wood and interiors network) we are also part of the country’s valued contemporary designers and makers network.
At Glendalough Studio, traditional values and skills are applied with modernity.
Cabinetry
Our clients are patrons of our craft. Our craft is a time-honoured, proven, remarkable one.
Our cabinetry is manufactured in much the same way as it would have been generations ago. A lot of modern tools and machinery have been adopted, but in our workshop, the methodology of joining and of working the wood have not. Why? Because the modern industry has yet to improve on these historic methods.
Cabinetry can make or break a room. Sometimes simple, pared-back is best. Sometimes, a room deserves more elaborate designs and materials. Guided by your brief and counseled by the house, our expertise will bring your dream-piece to fruition.
Project Management
Good cabinetmakers can design and build kitchens. Good joiners can design and build internal doors. Good carpenters can design and build the framework of a roof.
Master carpenters can do all three. And enjoy doing so. Exceptional artisans live for their craft and will not confine themselves to merely one aspect.
Good project management makes all the difference. Having a deep understanding of every aspect of our trade and how that affects and is affected by other trades, being fastidious and highly professional in our work and our unparalleled attention to detail sees us doing regular work as project managers and as consultants.
